Selecting the Right Machine

If you are looking to deburr, clean, surface finish, or polish more than one part at a time, there is no better method than a vibratory tumbling machine. Vibratory tumbling machines are extremely versatile and can save an operation thousands of hand labor hours which saves many thousands of dollars over the span of a project or the life of a machine. To select the best system you have to understand what you are trying to achieve with your parts and the benefits and costs of each type of system. C&M Topline offers four types of systems in several volumetric sizes.

  1. Vibratory Finishing Tanks
  2. Rotary Parts Tumblers
  3. Vibratory Bowls
  4. Large Bowls

All of our vibratory machines finish parts by mechanically vibrating the part vessel (Bowl, Tub, or Barrel) at high speeds. This vibrations causes the media in the vessel to move across the part in the same vessel creating the cutting and scrubbing action that abrades the parts. The vibrating action is usually created by a motor and shaft system with rotating eccentric weights.

  1. Vibratory Finishing Tank

Our finishing tank machines produce a thorough and efficient cutting action that can access hard to reach recesses in your parts. Our large tanks can run bulky parts without damage such as long struts or rotars. These systems are best for larger operations running large batches of parts. Any type of media can be run in our tank machines making them the most versatile machine type. We offer our tanks in two sizes; the 3 cubic foot volume DB300 and the 6.5 cubic foot volume DB600. Our line of tank machines is very economical and is available as an off the shelf product that can be ordered online.

  2. Rotary Parts Tumblers

Our bench top rotary parts tumblers are ideal for small parts, small batch parts, or very fragile parts. These are used by many industries including the jewelry and inter-ocular lens industries. This bench-top rotary tumbler system can accommodate barrels ranging in capacity from 22 ounces to 8 gallons. The heavy-duty plastic
barrels are equipped with stainless-steel doors and neoprene expansion plugs. The three different finishing tumbler base sizes offer different bar lengths and distances between the bars to allow for multiple barrels/batches on each base. The standard tumbler base is supplied with two speeds, but can be upgraded to variable speed for your ideal deburring equipment. These systems are very economical and is available as an off the shelf product that can be ordered online.

  3. Vibratory Bowls

The C&M Topline lineup of benchtop vibratory bowl Systems are available in three bench model sizes; ¼ cubic foot , ½ cubic foot, and ¾ cubic foot volumes. The toroidal-shaped bowl is suspended on multiple springs to allow for three-dimensional vibratory finishing, thus reducing part-to-part interaction during processing. The bowl vibratory finisher can be used for small and delicate parts without the concern of damage often found in large, tub-style vibratory equipment systems. Each machine includes a dump chute for easy discharge. An optional stand, timer, and recirculation system is also available for the systems allowing for customization and optimization of the setup. These machines are also ideal for smaller operations where fewer parts need to be processed. These systems are very economical and is available as an off the shelf product that can be ordered online.

  4. Large Bowls

The heavy-duty floor model MB Series systems are designed for larger batch sizes and 24/7 industrial processing. These bowl vibrators include a 3/8-inch-thick, polyurethane-lined steel bowl with adjustable amplitude. The 1.0-hp, 1,800-rpm motor can be upgraded to allow for vibratory burnishing and polishing operations using steel tumbling media. These systems come with optional automated part sorting capabilities. These systems are designed for large scale operations and have higher costs than the other systems we offer.
